Around 9:30 Nancy's mom called us and said we should look out the window immediately at the WTC. We actually face North so we went down to our couryard at houston near la Guardia. Their was a huge gaping black hole in the top of the main tower we could see. We kept looking for the other tower and figured the smoke was obscuring it. Office Workers and downtown hipsters were running and walking by us in huge crowds. A worker who had come down from the 89th floor of tower 1 said that one was gone and that's why we couldn't see it. The flames were getting highter which seemed worrisome. I looked down at my shoes and heard Nancy screaming. I looked up and the top of the remaining tower was disentegrating into thousands of glass shard and pieces of metal in slow motion. The tower kept melting layer by layer and I kept thinking that's it, it won't collapse any more. Within 10 seconds i was standing looking at a cloud of smoke and a big gaping absence where the towers had been in disbelief.
Every time we leave the house some new part of the disaster is happening outsider our door. Solders and cops blocking off houston street, Dozens and dozens of huge plows and debris movers and garbage trucks another, a huge cloud of noxious yellow smoke the next.
That's the story.
